Who is the Bourbon Cowgirl?

My spirit has always wandered in a sense of wildness. As a girl I was raised by babbling brooks, woods with no end, and a father who found Heaven on horseback. My childhood, spent barefoot in mountain meadows and talking to God below the waterfall that ran boundless in our backyard, made me into many things; but mostly it made me brave. Curious. Resilient. Strong enough to saddle up for a day’s work at the family riding stable yet still soft enough to tune into the people and simple beauty around me. I was a young cowgirl so sure of her place in the world. A young cowgirl who used her voice, caught more bass than the farm boys, and always wore a pair of red boots into town with her head held high.

Since then, I’ve fearlessly reached for experiences, opportunities, and relationships that brought me back to that untamed belonging. From pioneering baby nursery interior design for celebrities in the 90s to licensing and internationally selling my own collection of paintings; my sense of wildness manifested into success. &, oh how I adored the work. My career gave me purpose, collaboration, and unparalleled creative expression. Yet, despite my accomplishments, something was still missing.

As a busy mom, I grew tired of traveling from city to city and pouring love into everyone’s home but my own. I craved to be closer to my two boys. Closer to the countryside. So I started spending less time away and more time reconnecting with my roots. Establishing theirs.

One slow, summer afternoon - somewhere in-between my next flight and a load of laundry to rid of the weekly mud stains - my youngest son and I unearthed a forgotten box in the attic. We heaved the beat up cardboard container downstairs, opened the top, and poured out an archive of old photographs onto the living room floor. There they were… family heirlooms from those early days I cherished so deeply.

“Who’s this?” my son woke me from a trance pointing to a little girl in red cowgirl boots with her blonde hair all a mess and a toy six shooter by her side.

“That’s mom,” I answered as a smile cracked my cheeks.

That’s me.

Holding that photograph in my hands, tears welled up in my eyes, and I remembered. I remembered who I was before feminine ideals, societal norms, and the notoriety swallowed me whole. I was a cowgirl. A cowgirl with bite, soul, and a sense of style that never failed to start a conversation.

Shortly after that day, I hung my interior designer hat, closed Jack & Jill Interiors, and opened Bourbon Cowgirl - a lifestyle brand and western fashion boutique for spirited women.

I’ve been walking the line with her ever since. & I want that same homecoming for you.

Know that here at Bourbon Cowgirl we curate an enduring collection that is just as vast as the women who wear it. From trending western wear to timeless finds and accessories; Bourbon Cowgirl is your home for stirrin’ up smoke and never going down smooth. Whether you’re getting ready for the next festival or slow dancing below the stars with your cowboy; it’s our mission to take you there - with a story to tell and in a fit that feels undeniably like you

Because every woman is wildly spirited and deserves to wear the red boots.
